Marine Defence Forces

Whether you're the captain of a patrol boat or steering a warship through the Persian Gulf, the safety of your crew is your number one priority. Everyone has a job to do, everyone is dedicated and focussed, but the unexpected can happen with potentially dire consequences; man overboard is the single largest cause of marine fatalities.

However, knowing that there is an emergency within seconds of it occurring means that a rescue operation can be set in motion without delay and the likelihood of a fatality is greatly reduced.  Mobilarm's Maritime Survivor Locating Device (MSLD), Crewsafe V100, is specifically designed to address this need and will safeguard crew from going overboard undetected.

Everyone carries a pocket-sized beacon in the 'ready' position; in the event that they fall overboard, the device will automatically activate and transmit a VHF DSC distress alert directly to the ship's radio, and to all other VHF receivers in range. The device acquires a GPS lock, then tranmits the distress alert again, complete with its current latitude and longitude coordinates, repeating each DSC transmission as a synthesised voice message on channel 16. These messages are repeated at regular intervals to update rescuers with the victim's current position until he or she is safely back on board and the device can be deactivated.

Available late 2011 - the Crewsafe V200 - a VHF DSC locator beacon with AIS and 121.5 MHz homing transmitter designed specifically for submarine escape and abandonment use. Click here to download the Crewsafe V200 brochure.
