Commercial Fishing

Whether you're skippering a lobster boat, working on a trawler, crab fishing in the Bering Straits or hauling tuna in the Southern ocean, fishing on a commercial scale is a treacherous environment.

Internationally, the fishing industry is one of the most dangerous workplaces suffering 24,000 human losses annually*. The main cause of these fatalities is persons going overboard undetected and not being found.

Mobilarm's Crewsafe V100 VHF DSC locator beacon is specifically designed to address this situation by providing an instant alarm to the skipper via VHF radio and providing real-time coordinates of the fisherman in the event he falls overboard.

With the Crewsafe V100 integrated with the fisherman's lifejacket or wet-weather gear, it will automatically activate or can be manually activated if the fisherman is washed overboard. The beacon sends out a transmission which will be received on the boat's radio to raise the alarm, and also sends out a regular transmission of the fisherman's current latitude and longitude position so the skipper can track him in the water, and steam to his precise location (accurate to +/-10m). The device also has a strobe light which helps to locate the victim when you approach the area.

Since time in the water is directly related to man overboard's chances of survival, knowing immediately that the incident has occurred and knowing exactly where the man overboard is, means his chances of survival are greatly improved.

At Mobilarm, your safety is our priority.
