Mobilarm V100
The Mobilarm V100 is the first water activated emergency locator beacon that provides an automatic man overboard alert and in-water tracking using the marine VHF radio band.
Within seconds of the fall overboard, the Mobilarm V100 transmits a MAYDAY - MAN OVERBOARD distress message and real-time coordinates of the person in the water to alert all vessels in range that there is a man overboard in the vicinity. Crew aboard the vessel the man overboard fell from will be alerted, as will crew aboard all other vessels in VHF range. This localised alarm provides much earlier notification than conventional Personal Locator Beacons (PLB) that a man overboard incident has occurred. By directly alerting the people in the best position to carry out a rescue - the crew on board the closest vessel - a team can be rapidly deployed to recover the man overboard. This quick response vastly improves the man overboard casualty's chances of being found, and found alive. Only currently available to customers in the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Trinidad, Turkey, UAE, Venezuela. Other regions may be able to purchase this emergency locator beacon in a closed-loop configuration. - Timing and destination of transmissions.
- Message type, category, interval and content.
There are currently two supported regional profiles for the Mobilarm V100 VHF Locator Beacon - AS/NZS (open loop) and RTCM (closed loop). The configured settings are outlined here. Warning: The Mobilarm V100 is an emergency rescue transmission devices that should only be activated as a last resort. Misuse or false activation is unlawful and irresponsible, and could result in prosecution or penalty. Disclaimer: No device is 100% fail safe nor can it guarantee safe rescue in an emergency. When activated, the Mobilarm V100 broadcasts a distress alert via VHF DSC and VHF radio* to all VHF DSC and VHF radio equipped vessels or stations within range but requires subsequent human interaction to acknowledge and respond to the distress alert. Satellite GPS lock and in-water tracking is dependent on the extent of satellite system coverage and reception at the time and location of the emergency. The actual time and success of rescue is therefore dependent on all these contributing factors and as such, is outside the control of Mobilarm.
